This tool has saved me SO much time quilting

Ironing! We all have a love/hate relationship with it. Quilting involves just as much ironing as sewing. But last summer, that became impossible for me! I live in a very old house without central air. My sewing room shares breakers with an A/C unit and my husband's office. So when I turn my iron on, it uses enough power to trip the breaker and cut off power to the whole floor!

Enter: the seam roller. Instead of ironing after every seam, I can roll the seams open. It saves me from getting up and down every few minutes, and doesn't cause my house to lose power.

I started out using a metal seam roller, made for rolling wallpaper seams or leather bag seams. It worked, but was heavy, and I found my wrist tiring after a while. Then I found these wooden seam rollers and knew I had to bring this tool to the people!

Here's how I use it every day:

I keep it next to my machine on a mini cutting mat. After I chain piece, I break the chains with my thread cutter, then roll the seams open, and I'm on to the next step! Easy peasy.

You can find my seam rollers here, and my thread cutters here. And here's a little video of how I use it:
