Stitch Along Week 3: Rear Facade

Stitch Along Week 3: Rear Facade

Week 3! By this point, you're a plastic needlepoint expert! This week, we'll be making the rear facade. It's very similar to the front, except for the door, which is replaced by a flowery trellis.

As a reminder, here's our roadmap:

Week 3, Oct 2: Stitch the rear facade panel
Week 4, Oct 9: Stitch roofs and handle
Week 5, Oct 16: Stitch sides
Week 6, Oct 23: Stitch bottom, cut and sew lining
Week 7, Oct 30: Assemble, sew in lining, stitch exposed edges

Again, if you fall behind or something comes up, don't worry. I'm not a cop. Catch up when you can and don't stress. This is needlepoint! It's supposed to be fun!

I would LOVE to see your progress - use the hashtag #feralhouse and tag me @feralnotions when posting on Instagram or Tiktok!

Ok, here are some pointers for the rear facade:

1. Stitching over a background: I got a few questions about stitching over background needlepoint stitches. Specifically, the window panes and trellis. Any place where there is an intersection of overlay stitches, end your stitch there. That way, you won't have super-long overlay stitches that are easily distorted. I have a video on this here

2. Have fun with your windows! In our Discord channel, we have people stitching their dogs, books, spiderwebs, coffee cups, and more into the window! It may be helpful to sketch your design on graph paper before stitching.

As always, happy stitching!
