Stitch Along Week 6: Bottom and Lining!

Stitch Along Week 6: Bottom and Lining!

It's the PENULTIMATE week of the stitch along! How are we feeling? Fingers bleeding? This week, we're stitching our last panel and prepping the lining!

OK, first up, the bottom! You can do this in any color or stitch pattern you like. I did mine in a checkerboard herringbone-ish pattern using slanting gobelin stitch. I used green so it would blend in with the grass at the bottom of the facades.

Next: cutting the lining. Do this before you start stitching your panels together! Don't forget to add a seam allowance. I used a 1/2-inch allowance, and traced around all of my pieces with a Frixion pen, using a ruler set 1/2 inch off the edge of the panel. I have a video of this in the "lining videos" folder.

Sew the lining pieces together, except for one roof panel. The secret: stop each seam 1/2 in before the end. That leaves room for perfect corners.

Press the edges around the roof opening under 1/2 inch. Next week, you'll hand-sew the lining in. With your remaining roof piece, press all edges under 1/2 inch.
You've got this! If sewing the lining together seems tricky, just remember that it goes together the same way all the house panels do. There's always a seam ripper if you make a mistake :)
Happy stitching!
xoxo,
Caitlin
